A Serene Family Haven In The Country

Updated: Aug 14

Reimagining spaces for families to support the flow and rhythms of their lives is the most rewarding part of our work at Simply Perfect Design Co. So when our team had the opportunity to work with the same family a second time, we were delighted for the chance to tap into and reflect their personalities and priorities, this time in their primary home.

The Country Farm Home was already beautiful, especially in its picturesque rural setting, but it needed a thoughtful update to align with all the ways the family needed it to function. In redesigning their lake house, we learned they love to host gatherings of all kinds and their home is always ready for guests.

With that in mind, our designers focused on cultivating a sense of welcoming and warmth before the first step inside. Changing the original single front door to a double door with large-pane windows alters the entire home’s aesthetic and invites visitors inside. In the entry and throughout the main level, a serene taupe color for the walls sets the tone and contrasts with black structural features and accents, offering sophistication without starkness.

The ease of the entryway continues into the kitchen, where creamy quartz countertops and a sweeping custom range hood ground modern appliances and finishes in a tone-on-tone palette. This theme reverberates through the home, marrying curved lines with striking hard edges and introducing luxe touches to more classic farmhouse elements. Mixing trends with tradition, the overall impact is current and lovingly curated.

As we all know, everyone ends up hanging out in the kitchen. It’s the day-to-day heart of the home, where the family gathers for meals and other important moments. And considering how often they host their loved ones, it was important that we bring plenty of comfort and distinction to this room. Creating various zones – for cooking, dining, projects, and conversations – was essential to ensuring kids, parents and guests alike can all focus on their own things but still be together. This is something we carried through the house, introducing mixed-use places to linger, unwind and connect.

The cozy feelings continue into the bedrooms, though they’re more subdued and individual. The primary bedroom reflects the balance of the main level’s communal areas, but it’s a goal of ours to give children rooms that are entirely their own. The blend of materials and textures in all the bedrooms radiates relaxation, giving each space its own unique dimension.

Functionality still played a massive role in the upstairs design, driving one of the major creative solutions on this floor. Our team reconfigured the floorplan to add a bathroom, giving each of the three rooms upstairs a private en suite.

The Country Farm Home is perfectly done – not overdone – from the inviting entry to the chill basement game room to the custom character of the wood floors throughout the house. Taking cues from the property’s stunning natural beauty and our previous experience with this special family, we were eager to create harmony and bring out their identity in each room.

This is something our designers strive for in every home we design. If you have an idea or inspiration you’d like to express in your space, we’d love to help make it a reality. Contact Simply Perfect Design Co. for a consultation, and let’s get started.
